McLean is very disappointed in government MLAs who voted themselves a hefty pay raise a year ago and an even healthier pension/ severance package to boot. “They were elected to deal with issues yet they don’t know how to deal with this issue where it is patently obvious that the government is in the wrong. So they have been hiding behind the skirts of the courts waiting for a judge to make the tough call for them. Many of these artful dodgers are the same politicians who howl with outrage about the judiciary usurping their power when a decision doesn’t go their way. “

On 9 February that will all change as McLean’s case finally makes it to the courtroom. The following day McLean is scheduled to testify and the judge’s decision is expected shortly afterwards. Once the evidence is heard Albertans should be asking their MLAs where they stand on this particular issue. Legal issues aside their responses or non responses on this issue may provide telling testimony to whether they are prepared to stand up for what is right or simply tow the party line for brighter prospects of promotion down the road.
